Mechanical trouble knocked defending ARCA Menards Series West champion Jesse Love out of contention in the No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry and ended his shot at a top finish in Saturday’s General Tire 200 at Sonoma Raceway.
The 16-year-old was part of a four-car effort from Bill McAnally Racing at the 2.52-mile Northern California road course. He started eighth and was running seventh at the scheduled lap-25 midway break. Rear gear trouble sidelined him just past the restart.
Dylan Lupton, making his first start in the series since 2014, equalled BMR’s best Sonoma Raceway finish, with a second-place finish. Series rookie Cole Moore took fourth in the No. 99 NAPA Power Premium Plus Toyota Camry.
Love, Moore and team owner Bill McAnally participated in a VIP dinner, hosted by BBB Industries, for NAPA guests on Friday night at Sonoma. Guests from NAPA’s Sacramento Distribution Center and Riebes NAPA AUTO PARTS stores received VIP treatment at the race on Saturday. NGK also was represented by a VIP crew member.
